Project YC-14 Hobby King Order

It took about 3 weeks for this order to come in.

Right on time for us to try and get the plane flying by October.

You can see the list from my prev post.

So tonight I worked on disabling the 2nd ESC’s bec. I am actually going to wire it up so it feeds the 2nd reciver but using the + power and soldering a t connection to the ground.

But I could not resist testing her out. Even with just 1 prop.

We now have enough to basically get the plane flying.


First order was to learn how to use the balance charger. Read over the PDF manual and asked a few questions.

– Balance charge is always better. Slower but better. Select 11.1v (3S) and 2.2Amps.


My big old charger is up to the job! Have to make a field setup next.


Built time. Left ESC has the BEC disabled. As I said earlier I will be running 2 receivers so the 2nd ESC will power the 2nd receiver which will control the camera and bomb/cargo drops.


I used paint stir sticks and a servo mount kit to screw down the motor.


Also drilled a hole 3/8 for the wires. Excuse the exposure issue.


How could I resist not testing this out. BTW those are big props.


On the ground I have 1″ of clearance.


ESC running out the back.


I made a notch for the battery pack wire and ESC control cable.


Tomorrow I will glue in the servos.


Still have some work to do to lock it all down in place.


At least the wing can be laid down flat.


I had to cut an access hole to get the rear servo wires through.


Friday I will finish off a few jobs and we shall see how it all comes together.
